Bamboo

Sunil Deshpande an MSW graduate set up Sampoorna Bamboo Kendra formally in 1995. With the office at Lawada in Melghat Sampoorna Bamboo Kendra undertakes training, research, organisation, design and development of Bamboo products. The products are marketed through Venu Shilp Audyogik Cooperative Society. About 150 varieties of items are made here, popular being the bamboo jewellery, rakhi kits, lamps and coasters.

Sampoorna Bamboo Kendra also undertakes projects on Bamboo housing and has undertaken many housing projects across India.

Area of Focus

To generate livelihoods in the Melghat region by offering trainings in bamboo handicraft & housing work to ST and SC youth
Marketing of handicrafts through artisan cooperative
Reestablishing India’s amazing tradition of artisan and reestablishing honor & respect for Artisans in the Society
